Ah – finally a chance to post! Actually, I’ve had plenty, but I spent all day at work yesterday modifying my blog design – still under construction but its getting there slowly.

Anyway. It turned out that my Harry Potter day on Saturday didn’t turn out to be so bad. I spent the day over at my parents place. Shadowfire I hardly saw the whole day as he was reading HP and the Deathly Hallows non-stop in his room (he even refused a cookie I made because he was too busy to eat). Dad and Mum were home though so Ludo (my labrador) and I spent the day talking to them. To get into the spirit of the day, I gave Ludo a bath and drew round glasses and a lightning scar on his head with black eyeliner. Far out he looked funny! Mum and I were going to take some photos but decided to take it a step further and put a HP school tie on him. My old school uniform had a tie identical to those worn in Harry Potter, but I couldnt find it. So instead, we decided to make a Gryffindor house scarf. First we put a red feather boa on him, which was strange because Eveready (my cat) suddenly went completely crazy over the feathers, and started hunting Ludo and hissing at him. Mum and I contemplated how to incorporate yellow into the feathers, when we discovered red and yellow crepe paper in the craft supplies. So, we weaved a scarf out of crepe paper instead! This is how it turned out:

Hairy Potter

Isn’t he cute?!! Well, things went bad after that. We decided the eyeliner wasnt dark enough, so we got out some black paint and tried to paint markings on his face. Big mistake. Ludo refused to sit still while we attempted to paint his face. We got the scar and the top of the glasses alright, but couldn’t manage the bottom rims – even with him lying on his back in a headlock. Well, he escaped and rubbed his face all over the back of my jeans, and ended up with one big black smear all over his head. Disappointed, we realised that things weren’t going to work so mum and I attempted to wash the paint off Ludos face but it wouldn’t come off! We scrubbed and scrubbed for ages and managed only to turn his entire head grey! In the end we had to take him outside and cart buckets of warm water out to wash his head – not easy considering I had spent half the morning giving him a bath in the bathtub. Finally we finished with a white dog again, which the exception of two black streaks on his front paw, and an unusual beauty spot on the side of his face.

After all the excitement, Mum and I spent the afternoon cooking coconut biscuits while dad polished the dining room table and Shadowfire read. Ludo slept for the rest of the day after his grand adventure of playing “Hairy Potter.”
